Training Programme Director: Dr Richard Haslam
South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM) is the Lead Provider for Core Psychiatric Training for South East London. We provide training in partnership with Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust.
There are approximately 120 posts in the scheme at the CT1-3 (Core Training) stage, and as a CT you would undertake 6 posts during a 3 year period. Posts available include inpatient and community adult psychiatry, psychiatry of older adults, early onset psychosis, rehabilitation psychiatry, psychotherapies, liaison psychiatry, neuropsychiatry, addictions, forensic psychiatry, psychiatry of learning disability, child and adolescent psychiatry and specialised placements in national units for affective disorders, eating disorders, personality disorders, neuropsychiatry and treatment resistant psychosis.

The training scheme delivers the curriculum for Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists which is delivered through clinical training and a full day a week of teaching including didactic lectures and seminars, psychotherapy discussion groups, journal clubs, grand rounds and small group clinical skills (simulation) training.
As a Core trainee you will be allocated to a clinical and educational supervisor to support your clinical and academic development, including participation in workplace based placed training and assessments, and will be supported to gain your Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and pass through the national Annual Review of Competency Progression (ARCP) criteria.
