Johns Hopkins Department of Psychiatry Exchange Programme

For many years, the Institute of Psychiatry has hosted an exchange scheme with the Department of Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. This faltered in the early part of the last decade, but has now been rejuvenated and our first Hopkins resident of the new scheme arrived for a six month research placement in December 2010. We intend to now offer this exchange as a research and or education placement for trainees who are particularly interested to spend six months in Baltimore to conduct either academic research or educational scholarship projects.

Opportunities to teach and practice psychiatry in low income countries

The Maudsley Training programme has a number of well established links and research programmes running in low income countries, and there are a variety of opportunities for trainees to get involved and visit these countries to learn about global psychiatry, teach and conduct educational research.
